Voor Derroll 100 verzamelde Laura Cortese 8 songschrijvers die elk een nummer maakten gebaseerd op Derroll voor de playlist Derroll 100 (te vinden op alle streamingplatformen).

Rowan Rheingans, Kaia Kater, Johannes Wannyn, Cara Luft, Rachel Baiman, Björn Eriksson, Meskerem Mees en Laura Cortese zijn de songschrijvers. De songs zijn zorgvuldig geproducet door Laura Cortese en gemixt en gemastered door Jonas Everaert.

De muzikanten die de songs inspeelden zijn Gertjan Van Hellemont (gitaren), Jan Dhaene (drums), Trui Amerlinck (bas) en Laura Cortese (viool).

De andere songs worden gereleased in de periode tot en met 27/11.

A way to pass the time - Derroll 100 & Rowan Rheingans

Rowan Rheingans komt uit het Noorden van Engeland en is vertrouwd met Derroll. Haar vader is een vioolbouwer die Derroll goed kende en haar moeder zong in een groep die het repertoire van Derroll op het programma had. Zijn lp's lagen ten huize Rheingans.

Rowan heeft met zijn muziek een natuurlijke affiniteit, ‘as a self-taught banjoist who likes to mix styles, I relate to Derroll’s playing and blending of techniques - it is as melodic and meandering sometimes as it is rhythmic and playful. His is a music and a writing style that is quite hard to pin down or box in and I like that a lot. I’m often drawn to musicians who sound first and foremost like themselves.’

Rowan had eerder met haar groep Lady Maisery 'Portland town' van Derroll op het programma.

Voor ‘Derroll 100’ schrijft Rowan het prachtige tribuut 'A way to pass the time'. ‘I listened a lot to Derroll Adams’ own songs before I wrote this one in order to allow various turns of phrase and images to creep in, as well as the most obvious reference to Donovan’s ‘Colours’ in the chorus. I like to mix all these influences up into new songs - I think that’s really what the painterly job of being a folk musician is.’
